Coventry Building Society
Coventry Building Society (CBS) is a true leader in its field. Founded in 1884 by local businessman, Thomas Mason Daffern, the society created a mutually beneficial relationship between savers and borrowers to help the people of Coventry buy their own homes. Today, the society is still owned by its members and doesn’t have shareholders, with a genuinely ethical focus on financial wellbeing and responsible business practices.
Since 2021, CBS has been committed to the UN Global Compact corporate responsibility initiative and its principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. They’re also signatories of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking and have identified four of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals to prioritise.
