Ecotricity is Britain’s overall greenest energy company. It's more than just green energy - the breadth and depth of our work on green issues is unmatched.

We generate green electricity at our wind and sun parks, invest in direct carbon removal projects in Britain through the Carbon Bank, turn your Bills into Mills instead of paying dividends and operate an ethical approach to everything we do.

We don’t expect you to take our word for it. Other companies greenwash their credentials, so it makes sense to be wary. That’s why we love to win awards, get certified and be out there in the press, pushing for changes to our broken energy system.

They’re proof of our successes and our commitment to building a greener Britain.

Which? Eco Provider

Which? Eco Provider award

In 2026, we were named a Which? Eco Provider for the sixth year running.

What does it mean? It proves we’re doing what we say we’re doing – building and generating green energy in the most sustainable way possible.

The Which? Eco Provider endorsement is reserved for energy suppliers who are the most sustainable; making the greatest positive impact in generating and sourcing renewable energy, helping customers cut carbon and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Uswitch Best Customer Service 2026

Uswitch energy award for best customer service small supplier 2026

We won the Best Customer Service Small Supplier award in the Uswitch Energy Awards 2026.

What does it mean? It’s recognition of the great customer service we give our customers.

Uswitch took a poll of 15,019 UK energy customers to determine the winners for their awards, making this award a reflection of real customer experiences. Our fantastic team (based in the UK) are available when you actually need them – open every day, including weekends and evenings.

Certified vegan energy

vegan certification from the vegan society and viva!

We’re the only energy company to offer officially vegan-certified energy, a certification we hold from both The Vegan Society and the vegan charity, Viva!.

What does it mean? It shows we take our ethical approach to energy seriously and follow through on our commitments.

Animals are exploited to produce a small proportion of the UK’s energy, but it gets into the mix for a much larger proportion of homes. If an energy company isn’t officially vegan-certified, how can you trust where they get their energy?

Citizens Advice customer service

We consistently rank highly in the Citizens Advice customer service table for energy companies. Earlier this year, we placed first for the second time running.

What does it mean? It proves we deliver amazing customer service, but also that we’re good at the details. The Citizens Advice overall score is based on a range of performance measures including call centre waiting times, response times to customer enquiries and commitments such as the Energy Switch Guarantee.

We’re leading the campaign to fix Britain’s energy system

Awards aren’t the only way of measuring our commitment to our customers and creating a greener Britain. We’re working on reforming the energy system itself, by campaigning to Break the Link between the soaring cost of fossil gas and the price of the cheap, green electricity we generate right here in Britain. It would save UK households billions of pounds every year.

What does it mean? It demonstrates our values, ethics and commitments aren’t empty words. Our founder Dale Vince is out there campaigning for change and has launched Babelfish, a new media outlet that calls for realistic, impactful change across areas like energy, climate, transport and food.

Ready to start turning your Bills into Mills?

Switch to Ecotricity and we’ll use your bill money to build new sources of renewable energy and build a greener Britain.

At Ecotricity, we're proud of our awards. They're proof of our successes and our commitment to building a greener Britain - but what do they mean for our customers?

Our new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, just announced the removal of VAT from domestic electricity bills from October. It’s initially for just six months but there’s every chance this becomes permanent, in our view.

We’re proud to announce that Ecotricity has won the Best Customer Service Small Supplier 2026 award in the Uswitch Energy Awards 2026.
