Building Green Britain has been our mission from day one. But it’s not something we can do on our own. That is why the Ecotricity Business team works very closely with Third Party Intermediaries (TPIs), which support us in bringing deep green energy to the businesses of Britain.
For us, it’s very important for us to proudly showcase the work of Ecotricity and the wider Green Britain Group to these TPIs. They can then confidently share our vision with their customers and the tangible ways their bills are helping to build a greener society. Here is what Evolve Energy Solutions CEO Andy Hunter had to say after paying us a visit.
In September, Evolve Energy Director Stephen Hunter and I had the pleasure of visiting Ecotricity’s head office in Stroud.
A big thank you to Ecotricity Business Development Manager Mark Sanders-Barwick for the warm welcome and insightful tour. We met the team, explored the facilities, and even saw Ecotricity’s very first wind turbine—erected in 1996 and still generating clean energy for the grid nearly 30 years on.
We covered a lot of ground and it’s always inspiring to see sustainability in action, especially when it’s backed by such a passionate and forward-thinking team.
Inspiring and future-focused
First up, Mark gave us a tour of Forest Green Rovers that was equal parts inspiring and future-focused.
Recognised by FIFA as the greenest football club in the world, Forest Green Rovers have sustainability stitched into every detail, from kits made of recycled materials and coffee grounds, to Bio-Circle pitch care and vegan food served to home and away fans. Thoughtful, bold, and refreshingly inclusive.
Naturally, I couldn’t resist a cheeky water audit while I was there… and spotted they’re paying 95% RSA. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to chat with them about that in the not-too-distant future.
But the green credentials don’t stop there. The club’s new Eco Park is being built from ethically sourced wood, with expanded parking and EV charging stations. It’s a powerful statement of ethical commitment, a tour that felt like a glimpse into football’s sustainable future.
Smart turbine choices
This was followed by a visit to Britwind, touring the full production line from the 1kW to the 15kW wind turbine. From early-stage development to final assembly, it was inspiring to see British engineering in action.
One standout moment: watching the huge blades being pressed and moulded from resin, sculpted for aerodynamic efficiency. A perfect blend of precision and purpose.
What makes Britwind’s turbines so compelling is their flexibility, they can operate as standalone off-grid systems or integrate with solar and battery setups. Unlike solar-only systems, they’re not reliant on sunshine, making them a smart choice for year-round resilience.
With energy prices rising and ESG now front and centre in business strategy, it’s clear: sustainable and ethical solutions aren’t just good intentions, they’re competitive advantages.
Luxury meets sustainability
We ended with something truly extraordinary: Skydiamond.
These lab-grown diamonds are created by capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere, liquifying and purifying it, then mixing it with rainwater harvested from their own roof. Through electrolysis, the hydrogen and oxygen are split - powered entirely by renewable energy from Ecotricity.
From there, the process begins to grow a diamond seed. 14 days later, a Sky diamond is born, cut and graded to spec.
Why save this for last? Because it’s not just about sparkle, it’s about purpose: the CO₂ released back is cleaner than before; the energy is 100% renewable; and the diamonds are more than functional.
Applications for the diamonds:
Construction & machinery manufacturing
Cutting, grinding & drilling
Computer chip production
With the UK investing £5 billion to power its AI economy in Waltham Cross, the demand for sustainable, high-performance materials is only growing. Sky diamond could be part of that solution.
Luxury meets sustainability. Innovation meets impact.
