We’re two weeks into 2018 – how are your new year’s resolutions going? If you’re struggling to stick to them, we’re come up with five simple goals for 2018 – and they’re all things that will help the environment.
Leave the car in the garage – over a third of people in Britain drive to work, so cycling or using public transport once or twice a week could make a big difference in cutting our carbon emissions.
Think before you bin – you might be surprised by how much of what you throw in the bin could be recycled. Check with your local council to see what can be recycled in your area, and cut down the amount you send to landfill.
Cut your meat consumption – 51% of global greenhouse emissions are caused by animal agriculture, so reducing how much meat you eat can make a big difference. Why not just eat meat on the weekends? Or try going vegan or vegetarian for a week?
Make a space for nature – put up bird feeders in your garden – you could even create a wildflower area for insects. If you live in a flat, you can get bird feeders that stick to your windows – so you can still make space for nature.
Switch to a green energy supplier – it’s the single biggest thing you can do to fight climate change.
