Credit checks

Like most energy companies, when you join Ecotricity we’ll run a credit check to make sure you’re able to keep up regular payments.

What kind of check do we make?

When you apply to switch to Ecotricity, we run a hard credit check with Equifax. This will be recorded on your credit history, so other organisations who look up your credit score in the future will see that a utility company has checked it.

If you have a low credit score, you will need to call or email us to switch.

What happens if my credit score is low?

We’ll need to request some more information from you before you join us.
