Refer a friend terms and conditions

These terms and conditions apply in addition to the Ecotricity Limited (Ecotricity) Domestic Supply Terms and Conditions available on Ecotricity's website (the General Terms). Any capitalised words in these terms and conditions are defined in the General Terms unless defined below.

Ecotricity domestic energy supply customers (Referring Customers) can refer as many people as they like to receive an energy supply from Ecotricity. Every new domestic energy supply customer (A Referee) who joins using a Referring Customer’s unique referral link or code that the Referring Customer will receive from our newsletter (A Referral) will receive credit to their account, and the Referring Customer will also receive credit to their account for each Referral.

The Referring Customer and Referee shall each receive;

  • £25 reward for the Referee entering into a contract for the supply of energy on Ecotricity’s Green Variable Tariff

  • £10 reward for the Referee entering into a contract for the supply of energy on Ecotricity’s Fixed Tariff or pay as you go Tariff

  • If the Referring Customer or the Referee have a credit meter, the reward will be credited to their energy account.

  • If the Referring Customer or the Referee have a pay as you go meter, the reward will be a John Lewis voucher.

  1. The Promotion can be claimed from 24 February 2026 (‘the Promotion Start Date’)

  2. A Referral Customer and the Referee(s) will receive the Reward within 28 days of the date Ecotricity begins supply of energy to the Referee.

  3. There is no cash Reward available

  4. We will notify all Ecotricity domestic supply customers of a date (if any) on which the Promotion will end or on which these terms and conditions will be changed. Ecotricity will honour each Referral that complied with these terms and conditions and that took place before Ecotricity customers were notified in writing of any change to these terms and conditions or end to the Promotion.

New customer (Referee)

1. The promotion is open to applicants who are:

a. UK residents, aged 18 and over

b. have a residential address in mainland UK (exc. N. Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands)

c. Applying for the supply of electricity and/ or gas from Ecotricity

d. Switching to one of Ecotricity’s energy tariffs stated above via a valid unique referral link or code that is shared by a Referring Customer or phoning 0808 123 0 123 quoting the unique referral link or code received from the Referring Customer (Promotion Switching Process)

2. The Referring Customer and the Referee will not be eligible to claim the offer if any of the below applies;

a. The Referee cancels within 14 days after signing a Supply contract for the supply of electricity and/ or gas for one of the tariffs listed above

b. The Referee is switching to receive an energy supply from Ecotricity but will not being entering a Supply contract for a fixed period of time

c. The Referee has already applied for a Supply contract but makes another application for a Supply contract using the Promotion Switching Process

d. You are an employee of Ecotricity

e. Ecotricity is unable to provide the supply of energy to your property

f. You have previously switched energy supply to Ecotricity to claim another offer other than this Promotion and then switched energy supply away from Ecotricity in the 12 months before the date Ecotricity receives your new application for a Supply contract

g. You are claiming another offer in conjunction with the Promotion

h. An application for a Supply contract has already been made by an applicant at the address of the Referee in the 12 months before Ecotricity receives a new application for a Supply contract at the address of the Referee using the Promotion Switching Process

i. The Promotion is not displayed on the Ecotricity website at the date of your application for a Supply contract

j. You do not meet any of the application criteria for a Supply contract in accordance with Ecotricity’s General Terms

Existing customer (Referring Customer)

1. You will not be eligible to claim the Reward if any of the below applies;

a. You have cancelled or terminated your Supply contract with us before you have received your Reward

b. Your fixed term contract has expired, and you are supplied on Ecotricity’s Out of Contract rates

c. You are an employee of Ecotricity

d. The Referee is not eligible to apply for this Promotion

The Laws of England & Wales govern this Promotion. If any entrants to this Promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in the United Kingdom.
