As Britain’s greenest energy company, we focus on sustainability for the good of the planet. We recently met with one of our green energy customers Down to Earth, a social enterprise on the Gower who are using sustainability with a different aim – to improve people’s mental health.

Down to Earth is part of the Building Community project, which aims to engage hard to reach and vulnerable adults and young people through participation in practical, educational and community-based activity.

It’s an innovative project and one that’s having a real impact, as their work has been proven to be as effective as a course of anti-depressants in improving anxiety and depression.

The site was beautiful, with wooden buildings, a vegetable patch and solar panels, and just about everything we saw had been built by the people they support.

It was a place of peace and tranquillity and that came across in the approach of Jon, Mark and the team too, who immediately made us feel welcome.

We were blown away by their work and hope that their approach of sustainability, support and collaboration is one that can be replicated up and down the country in years to come.

    Climate Clock

The Climate Clock is a version of the Doomsday clock that has been running since 1947 - this tracks the risk of global man-made disaster, through man made technology (like nuclear weapons) - displaying the minutes and seconds left before midnight, when disaster strikes. The climate crisis is a small part of the calculations made.
The climate clock uses a similar approach, but, focuses only on the climate crisis - which is the biggest and most urgent existential threat we face.
"The Climate Clock is a countdown to the biggest man-made disaster we face - but also a measure by which we can track our progress - moving from fossil to renewable energy. It shows we have no time to lose - the clock is ticking…" Dale Vince, OBE.
