You may have heard of Blue Monday – it’s supposedly the most depressing day of the year, with Christmas and New Year over, the weather miserable, the box of Christmas chocolates empty and the bank account depleted.
This year Blue Monday is on January 15 (today) , and while there’s no real evidence that it exists, it can’t hurt to try something positive!
Here’s our top tips to get you out of that January funk…..
Carry out a random act of kindness – research links unselfish behaviour with a greater sense of wellbeing. It’s win-win.
Start walking to work – exercise and increased exposure to sunlight (even if it’s cloudy), will boost serotonin, the feel good chemical in your body.
How about giving Meat Free Mondays a go - eating less meat is one of the more significant things you can do for your health, especially after indulging over the festive period! Plus, reducing your meat consumption will help to combat climate change.
Volunteer with a wildlife charity – connecting with nature and doing something good can both contribute to a strong feeling of satisfaction.
Write a gratitude list – note down three things that you’re thankful for every day. It’ll help you develop a glass half-full habit!
Switching to green energy is the single biggest thing you can do to help the environment and we think that's something to feel good about too!
