The vegan food company Tideford Organics has taken the next step in its sustainable journey by switching to Britain’s leading green energy company, Ecotricity, who provide 100% green electricity generated from the wind and the sun.
The company, based in Totnes in Devon, has been producing organic gluten-free soups, sauces and pesto for over 20 years, and is stocked by major online retailers like Ocado, and Abel & Cole, as well as independents nationwide.
In September 2016, Tideford became the UK’s first organic, vegan and gluten-free brand. A plant-based diet can cut your carbon footprint by 50% - so Tideford’s aim is to get more veggies into people’s diet for the benefit of the planet as well as our health.
Ecotricity is the greenest energy company in Britain, and is led by vegan founder, Dale Vince – a natural fit for Tideford when it came to selecting their new energy supplier.
Lynette Sinclair, managing director at Tideford, said: “Tideford always aims to make delicious food that’s good for you, and the planet. It’s the reason we’ve always been organic, and one of the main reasons we became a vegan company. The next logical step was to find the greenest possible energy to power our business, so we’re delighted to be partnering with Ecotricity.”
Dale Vince, founder of Ecotricity, said: “Switching to green energy is one of the biggest things – and the easiest things – that any business can do to cut the emissions that cause climate change.
“By switching to green energy, Tideford Organics will reduce the environmental impact of their own operations, while supporting Britain’s energy independence and the green economy.”
