Wind park plans in the pipeline
We have submitted an application for nine modern wind turbines on agricultural land next to the A46 between the villages of Willoughby-on-the-Wolds and Old Dalby.
A wind park of nine turbines here would make enough electricity to power the equivalent of over 5,000 homes each year – that’s a quarter of households within Melton District!
This project could be a big positive step for the people of Melton and Leicestershire towards a future powered by a free, endless energy source that will never run out.

Last week we submitted some further information to Melton BC to go with the Environmental Statement. The Council asked for more info on ecology surveys, cultural heritage assets, Golden Plover populations and the potential cumulative impact of the proposed Queniborough site near Leicester. Now this has been submitted a further consultation period will take place with a few specific statutory consultees, before the Planning Officer can write up her report. We are hopeful that the application will go before the Development Committee within the next two months.

Only about 5% of the UK's energy is currently generated from renewable sources, we need much much more if we’re to tackle climate change effectively and live more sustainably.

Today we’ve just put up the 50m wind mast up on the site. This mast will be used to gather information about wind speeds and direction, and is likely to remain on site for up to 18 months.
The mast will also be used to help us with our noise assessment which is due to start at the end of this week.

Melton District Council have now granted us planning permission for our temporary 50m wind mast at Dalby. The decision, which was made through delegated powers, came through at the end of January. We will now be looking to erect the mast on the site in the next couple of weeks.
The wind mast will be on site for approximately 18 months, providing more a much more accurate picture of the actual conditions at the location. All useful information as we move forward with our proposal to build our first wind farm in Leicestershire.
03 December 2009
We have submitted an application for a 50m anemometry mast as well as a request for a scoping opinion to Melton Borough Council.
The purpose of the mast is to get a more detailed picture of wind speeds and conditions at the site. The mast is a temporary part of the application and will only be on-site for two years.
The entire mast can be erected and removed with no changes to the site or impact on the site surroundings.
The scoping request is to outline our intentions for the project so that the council and other statutory consultees, such as Natural England and RSPB, can comment on the proposals.
If you have any questions about the temporary mast or the scoping request, please let us know:

We will soon be submitting a Scoping Report and a planning application for a 50m monitoring mast to Melton Council. The Scoping Report sets out how we’ll gather the technical data needed, and asks the Council to consult statutory consultees for the project. These will include bodies with an authoritative knowledge on a specific aspect of the project, such as Natural England, RSPB and the Environment Agency.
