Why Green Gas?

A hob using our frack-free gas

The conventional gas that we use to cook and heat our homes with is a fossil fuel – and it’s running out.

Secondly, of course we have to stop burning fossil fuels anyhow, to reduce our carbon emissions and protect the environment.

Just as our windmills make electricity from the wind. Green Gasmills use renewable resources to make Green Gas.  You can read how it works here.

Making Green Gas ourselves, instead of importing it from other countries, will displace fossil fuels from the National Grid and help to secure an Energy Independent Britain – now and in years to come.

We've got planning permission to build our first green gasmill, with more pencilled in across the country.

It's something we've been waiting a long time to do. And we're pretty excited that we're about to begin turning our customers' Green Gas bills into green gasmills ;-)

Our Green Gas is frack-free

In the meantime our Green Gas tariff is Frack Free – we’ll never source any of our gas from shale. That's a promise.

You can read more about this here.

...renewable gas could meet up to 50% of UK residential gas demand. Produced mainly via a process of anaerobic digestion (AD) or thermal gasification of the UK’s biodegradeable waste, renewable gas represents a readily implementable solution for delivering renewable heat to homes in the UK.
