Ecotricity sponsors Brazil's free mega-rave in the Amazon rainforest

Ecotricity is providing the funding for Koru - a London based music producer pioneering Tribal House, Drum n Space and Ambient Auras - to join over 30 international DJ's at Ecosystem 2.0.

One of the biggest parties that has ever happened in Brazil, Ecosystem was set up last year with joint funding from the Brazilian government and Greenpeace. Proceeds from Ecosystem 1.0 enabled recovery work to begin on the Taruma Ecological Park and this month's event will fund the Park's completion. With over 360,000 square meters of land, the park has four lakes, rocky plateaus and white sand beaches, and the project includes generating the park's electricity requirements from renewable energy sources.

The overall aim of Ecosystem is to raise young people's awareness about the protection of the Amazon rainforest, using music and electronic culture. The event follows stringent environmental and social guidelines. Over 45,000 people joined the party last year and the organisers are expecting many more this year.

Carlos, an internally renowned jock came up with the idea following a drum and bass project in Manaus - the gateway city to the Amazon - five years ago. Liquid Sky, run by Carlos in New York, is in charge of the artistic direction and the global promotion of the event.
