Planning Since: 18 Nov 2015
Number of panels:18000
Size of park:14.6 hectares
Height of panels:2.5m
Green electricity per year:tbc
Homes powered (equiv):1,090
Tonnes of CO2 saved p.a.:1,773
We’re looking to add a new 5MW solar site to our existing Galsworthy wind park. The extra 18,000 solar panels would power over 1,000 homes every year and bring the site’s total energy generation up to a whopping 15.2MW.
It would also have a big impact on local biodiversity, creating a species-rich meadow which would benefit bees and farmland birds.
Homes Powered (equiv): Derived from the expected generation above and based on an average UK electricity consumption per household of 4,128 kWh per annum (DECC, 2015)
CO2 Savings (Tonnes/Year): Assumed CO2 equivalent figure is 394g of CO2/kWh produced at grid-mix (Dukes, 2015).
*Panel numbers to nearest 1,000
Eco Measures: This site will be will be managed to develop species-rich meadow grassland to benefit bees and farmland birds. Additional eco measures will include bird boxes and bat boxes installed.
Planning permission for a 5MW sun park at Bulkworthy was granted today.
