What is a kWh (kilowatt-hour)?
A unit of energy equal to the work done by a power of 1000 watts operating for one hour; or a 40-watt light bulb being left on for 25 hours.
What is the Tariff Comparison Rate (TCR)?
The TCR is a numerical value which sets out the unit price (p/kWh) for a customer with typical annual electricity consumption of 3,100 kWh/typical annual gas consumption of 12,500 kWh. It takes into account the price, tie-ins, discounts, exemptions and bundled products. The TCR is not based on your personal consumption and is not an actual price. You can ask us and any other energy supplier to send you a copy of a TCR in relation to any tariff and you can use these values to compare the various offers available in the market. Please note, however, that a TCR is a price-only index, and does not account for any other supplier attributes such as fuel mix or customer service rating. TCR does not currently apply to an E7 tariff.
These numbers are calculated assuming you use the Ofgem average of 12,500 kWh per year for gas. Alternatively, if you know how much you use, type it in, press enter and we'll recalculate. Prices include VAT.
