Turbine Tours

Our first Swaffham wind turbine was built in 1999. It provides green electricity to a third of the town's homes and is a popular visitor attraction with its 65m high public viewing platform, designed by Sir Norman Foster.

So far more than 50,000 people have climbed the 300 step spiral staircase inside the turbine's tower to enjoy this unique experience and the views of the surrounding countryside.

Visitors can now enjoy a special feature on the horizon - our second Swaffham wind turbine, installed in August 2003. Standing 85m high with a capacity of 1.8MW this is the UK's tallest onshore wind turbine. Together the two Swaffham wind turbines power 75% of the town with wind energy.

Each child that climbs the wind turbine receives a free goodie bag to take home.
