About Ecotricity We founded the green electricity market place in 1996 and we are the only electricity company dedicated to building new sources of green energy, crucial in the fight against climate change. We are an independent, British company with no external shareholders. Conventional electricity is the UK's biggest contributor to climate change, producing around a third of the country's carbon dioxide emissions. Existing green energy capacity is no longer making a difference in reducing the increasing greenhouse gas emissions that are damaging our environment. We need more new green energy urgently, and we're the only electricity supplier out there with an ongoing building programme - we aim to build 500MW of new wind turbines in the next 10 years. We also aim to convert 1 million homes to green electricity. We achieve this by supplying green electricity at brown prices. And our commitment is backed with action - we're building wind energy now to fulfil our customers' growing demands.
