The Proposal

Ecotricity is planning to build 20 Enercon E-48/800kW wind turbines at Conishome Fen, to generate over 43 million units (kWh) of green electricity every year.

How will the 20 new turbines benefit the local community?

  • clean power for over 13,000 local homes
  • this project supports the diversification of a local farm
  • Ecotricity will use local contractors where necessary in preparing the groundwork and foundations
  • the proposed development will be rateable and payable to East Lindsey Borough Council. At present this amount stands at £5,000 per Mega Watt. This figure is likely to increase in the period from April 2005 – 2010. Currently, for the proposed development this equates to a rateable value of £33,760.

20 wind turbines =
electricity for 13,223 local homes

How will the environment benefit?

The 20 new wind turbines will save the annual emission of :-

  • carbon dioxide (CO2 ): 43,965 tonnes
  • sulphur dioxide (SO2 ): 663 tonnes
  • nitrogen oxides (NOX ): 179 tonnes
  • several tonnes of ash and slag
