2005 surpassed all records for wind energy in
the UK.
In June we passed the landmark 1,000 megawatts
(MW), making the UK only one of eight countries
around the world to have installed over 1,000 MW of
capacity.
We still have a long way to go to keep up with
countries such as Germany, Denmark and Spain.
In total, the UK had 1,337 MW of wind capacity by the end of 2005, with nearly 800MW
of wind farm development currently under
construction.
