Alveston Wind Park - Public exhibition announced
18th March 2008
We're submitting a planning application to build three wind turbines on agricultural land at Earthcott Green, between the villages of Latteridge and Rudgeway, in South Gloucestershire. We built one turbine in neighbouring Gloucestershire, over 10 years ago now, Gloucestershire's only one. Sadly South Gloucestershire is still to get off the mark! And it's not as if the people of Gloucestershire don’t want them - a large-scale consultation by Northavon MP Steve Webb found strong support in South Gloucestershire for wind farms. He's quoted as saying
"I have received a huge response to this question, and I am very grateful to everyone who gave me their views. I was struck by the high level of support for wind farms in principle, although people rightly stressed that each individual application would need to be assessed on its merits. Whilst wind power is clearly only part of the answer to our energy needs, it is clear to me that a significant majority of my constituents would want to see the Council engage positively with anyone seeking to submit an application".
See the plans at the public exhibition at Thornbury library from Tuesday 25th March - Tuesday 8th April. The exhibition will include photomontages of the proposed new wind turbines, information on wind power technology and the damaging effects of climate change.
A map showing the location of the proposed turbines and a selection of photomontages is available in the Online Exhibition below. If you have any questions or queries please email us at alveston@ecotricity.co.uk

Only about 5% of the UK's energy is currently generated from renewable sources, we need much much more if we're to tackle climate change effectively and live more sustainably.
