Sir Richard Branson You're invited to my house for a carbon-free breakfast.

As far as invitations go, it was a hard one to ignore. So when Green electricity boss Dale Vince invited Sir Richard Branson to "a carbon-free breakfast" last week by taking out a full-page advertisement, promising to "serve you up a solution", the Virgin boss felt obliged to accept. "He enjoyed Dale's cheek," Branson's spokesman tells me. "He felt that if someone was willing to go to those lengths, he should get in touch. So he did. But when Richard rang up, Dale was convinced he was one of his friends winding him up. After much persuasion, they finally fixed a date."
