Turbine Open Day for Shipdham villagers

15 April 2004

Swaftham Turbine

Residents of a Norfolk village are being invited to a free open day at the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham on Sunday 2nd May to find out more about wind energy.

Ecotricity has submitted a planning application to build two 2MW wind turbines in the village of Shipdham but there are mixed feelings about the development within the local community. It is hoped the open day will help to allay fears of noise that some people have.

The Ecotricity wind turbine at Ecotech Centre has been successfully producing clean electricity for the town since 1999. It has a unique public viewing platform just below the generator which is reached by climbing a 300 step sprial staircase inside the 65m high tower.

Open Day Timetable
Guided turbine tours - from 11am to 3pm
Presentation "Wind Power: Dispelling the Myths" by Don Saunders, Education Manager, Ecotech - 12am & 2pm
