Ecotricity, the UK's first green electricity company, has today announced plans to build 30 wind turbines in East Lindsey, Lincolnshire. The increased demand for 'green' energy both for business and domestic usage has brought about Ecotricity's decision to put forward planning proposals for wind parks on this scale. If the projects get the go ahead they will power over 15,000 local homes - 30% of the East Lindsey district.

Dale Vince, managing director of Ecotricity comments,"These are exciting projects which would place Lincolnshire on the map in terms of providing a substantial amount of clean green electricity as well as saving a significant amount of carbon dioxide emissions. Our philosophy has always been to build new sources of green electricity and the East Lindsey wind park would be a great leap forward in terms of achieving this."

The largest proposed development for 22 wind turbines is situated at Fen Farm - a 860 acre rural farmland site, 1km to the south west of the village of Conisholme and 7kms from Mablethorpe. The wind park will make a significant contribution to the country's renewable energy targets preventing the emission of over 29,025 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. The 65 metre high wind turbines are made by Enercon and offer the most efficient and quietest wind technology in the world.

Ecotricity is also planning to build eight 65 metre high wind turbines at Bambers Farm, near Mablethorpe in East Lindsey which will increase the existing wind park at Mablethorpe to 10 wind turbines. This wind park alone will generate electricity for 5,018 homes locally and prevent the emission of 14,241 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

Prior to submitting a planning application to build and expand the wind parks, Ecotricity is hosting a series of 'Open Days' to consult with local people about the proposed developments.

Fen Farm exhibition - Tuesday 3 December at Louth Library from 9.30am to 5.30pm and at North Somercotes Village Hall on Wednesday 4 December from 1pm to 8pm.

Bambers Farm exhibition - Tuesday 3 December at Louth Library on and at Station Leisure Centre, Mablethorpe, on Thursday 5 December from 10am to 8pm.

Representatives from Ecotricity will be on hand to answer any questions from the public and the Open Days will include photo montages, site details and background information.
