New recruits have been taken on to deal directly with the high volume of customer calls prior to the launch of Ecotricity's domestic service at the end of this year. In addition, Ecotricity has taken on new team members in its planning department as the demand for the Company's wind power supply increases.
Ecotricity aims to build 30 megawatts of green power by the end of 2003. The company has also announced plans to build London's first wind park at Ford Motor Company's Dagenham Estate. If given the go ahead, the proposed development of three, 1.8 megawatt wind turbines will provide 100% of the electricity requirements for Ford's Clean Assembly Plant.
Western Windpower, part of the Ecotricity group based in Gloucestershire has also doubled its staff numbers over the past year with the increased demand for its wind monitoring equipment exported to customers throughout the world. Western Windpower has also increased its turnover 50% over the last year and recently sold its 1000th wind mast.
Dale Vince, managing director of Ecotricity comments, "This is an extremely busy and exciting time for us particularly with the impending launch of our new domestic service. Our philosophy has always been to invest in the future of renewable energy and our recent staff intake reflects the growth in business and demand from consumers who want to buy green power."
