Ecotricity, the UK's pioneering green energy company, is helping the innovative London-based Maori musician and DJ KORU to produce his next album.
KORU sets off this week on a two month tour of Asia, Australia and New Zealand and will begin recording sounds and tunes for the album from these host countries. The album will combine Tribal House, Drum n Space and Ambient Auras and will be produced using portable solar panels provided by Ecotricity.
KORU will be using the solar panels to power his laptop and mixer at the Ecosystem parties he plans to hold, some of which will be in remote locations. The highlight of his journey will be a New Year's Eve party on a Buddhist island in Thailand. KORU, whose name means waves, spirals and energy, hosts raves with a difference as they attempt to adhere to strict environmental policies where possible and to educate people about ecological issues.
KORU comments, "It's great that I'm producing an album using Ecotricity. It's really important that I work with people who have like-minded attitudes about the environment and are doing something positive to help it out. I'm really excited about this new album as it's going to combine a whole host of sounds from some of the most beautiful parts of the world using renewable energy."
Dale Vince, managing director of Ecotricity says, "I'm thrilled we are involved in the new album. It shows the value of renewable energy for a project like this, not only because it provides safe green portable power, but also because it doesn't contribute to climate change. KORU spreads an important message to young people about protecting the environment whilst our contribution to cleaning up the environment is providing electricity made from clean, green energy sources."
In August, Ecotricity supported KORU's participation at the second annual Ecosystem rave in the Amazon jungle. For more information on KORU visit his web site at http://www.korumusic.com.
