Open day a great success at our latest wind park
Shooters Bottom, Somerset
July 18th 2008
Julian, whose farm we built our Shooters Bottom turbine on, had been inundated with visitors since we built it and we had been overwhelmed by the e-mails and phone calls we were getting so we thought – we’d throw open the gates to our new neighbours, give them the chance to come and see their new neighbour at close hand, to meet us and have the opportunity to ask us questions about any aspect of wind energy and how it all works.
We were overwhelmed by the response.
We always say to people if they’re interested or concerned about wind turbines - Go and actually see one for yourself and listen to it. It’s the best way to get to the truth - judge it for yourself.
And over 300 people popped along to do just that. And from the responses we received it’s clear our new neighbours gave our turbine a big thumbs up.
Thanks to everybody who came and made the day so enjoyable.
Perhaps we’ll arrange another one soon.
Just a few of the written comments left behind on the day...
“A landmark. Thank you for the opportunity of being up close. Not an eyesore. A welcome neighbour.”
“A very gentle giant.”
“Love it!! It’s great to see from our house. Please can we have more!”
“Surprised at how quiet the turbine is. More wind power please.”
“We were very dubious when plans were first made. But now think it is excellent. Well done.”
