Swaffham, Norfolk

The Ecotricity wind turbine at the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham, Norfolk, was built in 1999 and produces enough electricity for around 3,000 people - over a third of the town's population. The Ecotech Centre is an environmental education centre and the turbine features a unique public viewing platform, designed by Foster & Partners, which is situated just below the hub. It is reached by climbing a 300-step spiral staircase inside the tower and has already been visited by over 50,000 people.
