Co-operative Bank, Bambers Farm, Lincolnshire

In October 2004 we built eight new wind turbines at Bambers Farm in Lincolnshire with a combined capacity of 4.8MW. That's enough green electricity to power over 4,000 homes.

The electricity from six of the wind turbines has been allocated to Co-operative Bank and CIS Ltd (CFS) to supply their offices throughout the UK, in a ground breaking power purchase agreement with us. This 'off-site' Merchant Wind Power deal guarantees that CFS will save around £250,000 over the lifetime of the contract.

The turbines will produce over 13 million units of electricity each year and stop the emissions of over 11,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

According to Paul Monaghan, Head of Sustainability at CFS: "We already source virtually all of our electricity from renewable sources, but this deal will ensure that we are supporting the creation of new generation capacity in the UK and saving money. Let’s face it, we need something radical if the UK is to increase the measly three per cent of renewables currently operating in the UK”.
