Michelin’s Green Tyre Comes to Life

The UK’s largest corporate wind energy project has been given the green light after planning consent was agreed for an ambitious partnership scheme between green energy pioneers ecotricity and Michelin.

Formal approval for a two turbine wind park at Michelin’s Dundee tyre plant was given by the city council on 26th September. From early 2006 many of the Michelin tyre produced at the location will be manufactured using clean, green energy.

Following hard on the heels of Ford’s clean diesel plant at Dagenham, this latest project represents another milestone in ecotricity’s campaign to green up big business and the automotive supply chain. Little by little, the things we use every day are getting greener thanks to initiatives such as this.

The two ecotricity turbines planned for the site are super quiet, highly efficient, leveraging the very latest advances in technology, and will visibly reinforce ecotricity’s ‘Good Neighbour’ policy.
