Ecotricity win prestigious award for latest turbine

14th November 2005

Ecotricity's newly installed wind turbine at GreenPark has been recognised by the South East Sustainable Partnership (SESEP) as making an important contribution towards promoting renewable energy in the south- east. Prudential Portfolio Investment Managers Ltd (PruPIM) and Ecotricity were each awarded a trophy for their involvement in the joint project at an awards dinner held last week. The award is sponsored by GOSE, SEERA and SEEDA.

PruPIM's Tim Davis commented: “This kind of recognition is extremely encouraging. The decision to install a wind turbine at GreenPark was, in some ways a courageous one, but it is entirely in line with our corporate strategy on sustainability. The provision of clean, renewable, wind-generated electricity to companies at GreenPark and local people puts PruPIM, GreenPark and Reading at the forefront of contemporary thinking on sustainablility.”

Dr Keith Richards OBE, MD of TV Energy, said: “Well done to Prudential and to Ecotricity on their highly deserved award for an outstanding renewable energy development within the south-east of England region. The elegant turbine at GreenPark will set the standard for further developments which will prove essential if we are to become more sustainable in the region and the country.”

Dale Vince OBE, founder of Ecotricity, commented: “ . In our experience, the sight of a real turbine in action makes people think about where their energy comes from, and helps them understand the link to fighting climate change. I'm also really pleased to be able to bring clean, green electricity to 1,500 local homes and businesses.”

PruPIM is the investment arm of Prudential plc and the owner and developer of GreenPark.

Ecotricity is an electricity provider that builds wind turbines to supply clean energy to thousands of customers across the UK .
