Turbine wears giant pink ribbon for Breast Cancer 21st January 2004
A giant banner depicting the pink ribbon logo for breast cancer, has been hung from the side of our wind turbine at the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham, Norfolk. The 20m high banner was tied in place by intrepid abseilers, Tjebbe Roestenberg and Jonathan Adams from Great Yarmouth. We're donating £5 to the EDP's breast cancer appeal for every person who switches to Ecotricity as a result of the campaign. EDP has already raised nearly £40,000. The appeal was made possible by the generosity of local businesses. Norwich based Off the Wall printed the banner (worth £900) and Tjebbe's rope access company supplied their services free of charge. The banner was due to go up on Monday but high winds made the job too dangerous. Although the wind turbine was stopped for the tricky operation, Tjebbe and Jonathan still had to abseil over 40m down the tower to put the banner in place. Ends. |
