Ecotricity wins approval for Berkshire's first wind turbine

Pioneering green electricity company Ecotricity, is today celebrating after receiving approval from Wokingham District Council to construct a wind turbine in Reading, capable of powering 1,000 local homes and businesses.

The windmill will be sited within the innovative GreenPark Business Park, providing a fabulous backdrop for the state of the art turbine. Fine modern architecture lies within a sympathetically conserved natural setting where plant and wildlife species flourish.

Dale Vince OBE, Ecotricity founder and Managing Director, says, "This is great news for the people of Reading who will have the opportunity to buy locally generated clean electricity. GreenPark demonstrates the viability of windmills in urban locations".

Established in 1995, Ecotricity was the world's first green electricity company. It is dedicated to changing the way electricity is made, investing the money its customers spend on electricity in a continuous programme of building wind turbines.

By using existing cables and meters Ecotricity can supply any home or business in England or Wales. It also guarantees to match the price of local suppliers up and down the country, so switching to clean energy needn't cost any more. Switching is easy via its free phone number 08000 326100 or website www.ecotricity.com.
