Save Your Energy - Save Money - Save the World
18 September 2003 If you want to help keep your bank balance and the environment healthy then switch off any unnecessary lights and appliances and switch on to Ecotricity's 'Global Cooling' campaign. That's the message from the UK's first green electricity supplier, during Energy Efficiency Week - 22nd to 28th September. Dale Vince, Managing Director of Ecotricity comments, "Burning fossil fuels to make electricity is the major contributor to global warming and wasting energy only makes things worse. It's sometimes hard for people to see what difference they can make in the face of huge challenges like climate change. But there are simple steps they can take to cut greenhouse gas emissions and save themselves money in the process." Ecotricity's 'Global Cooling' campaign aim is to get people to switch their electricity supply to one that will create new sources of non-polluting renewable energy. As part of its commitment to Energy Efficiency Week Ecotricity has energy saving advice on its website. The average UK household spends £200 a year more than it should
on energy bills and most houses create around six tonnes of environmentally
harmful carbon dioxide per year. The Energy Saving Trust operates 52 Energy
Efficiency Advice Centres around the UK where people can get free impartial
advice on how to make their homes energy efficient. Call Freephone 0800
