Cancer survivor has his sights set high - 67m high!!!

29th April 2003

Martin Alderton, father of three, has set himself a huge challenge. On Saturday 31st May, he will be abseiling a staggering 67m (220ft) down the Ecotricity wind turbine in Swaffham, to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Martin, 42, who works as an Engineer in Hingham, has been successfully treated for cancer at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital, following his diagnosis in 1991 with non-hodgkins lymphoma.

"Since being given the all clear for cancer, I have wanted to give something back to cancer research. As soon as I heard about the abseil, I jumped at the chance to take part." says Martin.

Helen Wood, Events Organiser from Cancer Research UK, says "This is such an exciting event that gives people the opportunity to do something different and a little daring. There are still places available for the abseil and we're urging people to take Martin's lead and join us and help to raise money for such a vital cause."
