Are house prices affected by wind parks? People are sometimes concerned that the value of their property may be affected by a new wind energy development. According to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, a planning application proposal may possibly affect local house prices, but the negative impact diminishes over time. Some 60% of chartered surveyors with experience of house transactions near to wind farms report that they have an adverse effect on house prices. Once the turbines are operational, however. there are no adverse effects on house prices, according to the RICS. This suggests that wind farms become more accepted as communities get used to them. |
