'Organic' electricity drives organic food company 22nd October 2001 Ecotricity, the founder of the UK's 'green' electricity market place, is devoted to supplying electricity from sources that are less polluting and more sustainable than conventional electricity. Based in Stroud, Ecotricity supplies many leading ethical organisations, including The Body Shop, The Co-operative Bank and EMI. Its domestic service is due to launched early next year. By using Ecotricity, Slipstream is improving its organic credentials and helping to prevent further climate change by reducing its CO2 emissions. Established in 1994, Slipstream Organics delivers locally grown, organic, fresh produce to households throughout Gloucestershire via the revolutionary 'Box Marketing System'. Produce is sourced locally, from organic growers located throughout Gloucestershire and Herefordshire and packed into selection boxes that are subsequently delivered to customer's homes. The operation emphasises seasonal variations in produce and helps stimulate the local economy whilst minimising the environmental impact caused by excessive food distribution.
