Launch of UK's first 'green' powered delivery company

5th July 2001
Electric City, an all-electric powered delivery company, is cleaning up the environment by charging all its vehicles with Ecotricity from Europe's first and largest 'green' electricity company. This makes Electric City a zero emission operation, saving the environment tonnes of CO2 pollution every year.

Due to be launched this month, Electric City uses small battery powered vans such as the Peujeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo and will initially target businesses within central London. For the future, talks are already in progress with national parcel carriers with a view to taking on the final leg of home deliveries in London.

Electric City is challenging the belief that being kind to the environment is not efficient, by offering a reliable, noise free and competitive delivery service. The company is making a considerable investment in its IT infrastructure to allow full and seamless integration with e-commerce companies, enabling the latest on-line track and trace capabilities.

Electric City is the latest of a growing number of organisations, including The Body Shop and The Co-operative Bank, who recognise the environmental and commercial benefits of using Ecotricity.
