Julia Hailes MBE, Environmental & Ethical Consultant, New Green Consumer Guide author

Julia Hailes is a leading opinion former, freelance consultant and speaker on social, environmental and ethical issues.  Her work includes environmental reviews, management briefings and advising companies on policy, strategy and communications.

She co-founded SustainAbility Ltd, a think tank consultancy that now has offices in London, Washington and Zurich, as well as operations in India. She has authored or co-authored nine books, including the number-one best-selling Green Consumer Guide, published 20 years ago and selling over 1 million copies worldwide. Her most recent book, The New Green Consumer Guide, came out in 2007.

Jonathon Porritt CBE, Founder Director, Forum for the Future

Jonathon Porritt, co-founder of Forum for the Future, is an eminent writer, broadcaster and commentator on sustainable development.

In addition, he is co-director of The Prince of Wales's Business and Environment Programme which runs seminars for senior executives around the world.  He is a non-executive director of Wessex Water, and of Willmott Dixon Holdings.  He is a trustee of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy, and is involved in the work of many NGOs and charities as patron, chair or special adviser.

He was formerly director of Friends of the Earth (1984-90); co-chair of the Green Party (1980-83) of which he is still a member; chairman of UNED-UK (1993-96); chairman of Sustainability South West, the South West Round Table for Sustainable Development (1999-2001); a trustee of WWF UK (1991-2005), a member of the Board of the South West Regional Development Agency (1999-2008).

His latest books are Capitalism As If The World Matters (Earthscan, revised 2007), Globalism & Regionalism (Black Dog 2008) and Living Within Our Means (Forum for the Future 2009).

Jonathon received a CBE in January 2000 for services to environmental protection.

Charles Middleton, UK Managing Director, Triodos Bank

Charles joined Triodos Bank as Managing Director in March 2003.  His previous experience was with Barclays in a number of different roles including general management positions in India, Africa and The Caribbean

He particularly enjoyed having the opportunity to work in a number of different cultural environments and some of this experience provided the incentive to move to a business more focussed on people and the environment.

Patrick Holden CBE, Director, Soil Association

Patrick Holden was brought up in London. He visited a dairy farm near Epping aged five and decided he wanted to milk cows. He studied biodynamic agriculture at Emerson College in 1972 and started a community farm in West Wales in 1973.

The 93 hectare mixed organic farm is now the longest established organic dairy farm in Wales, with a herd of 65 Ayrshire cows - the milk from which is being made into an unpasteurised cheese by his son Sam. Patrick still milks his cows at weekends.

He worked for the Soil Association since 1988 and as Director since 1995, stepping down in 2010. During that period income rose from £200,000 to £10 million and sales of organic food from £50 million to £2 billion.

He was awarded the CBE for services to organic farming in 2005.

Lucy Shea, Strategy Director, Futerra Sustainability Communications

Lucy is Futerra's CEO and drives our international work. An expert on internal and external communications for sustainable development, Lucy has a slightly guilty carbon footprint from regular international training on climate change communications.

Lucy is the author of Communicating Sustainability, a special UN Environment Programme report, and is a member of the UN’s Sustainable Lifestyles Taskforce. She is the founder of the Swishing movement, see www.swishing.com and a co-founder of the RE:Fashion Awards.

Martin Wright (chair), Editor in Chief, Green Futures

Martin has over 20 years' experience as a journalist, editor and communications consultant, specialising in environmental issues and sustainable futures. He has contributed articles and photos to an extensive range of publications, including The Times, The Guardian, the Financial Times, The Independent, Newsweek and New Scientist, and is a winner of the Science and Environment Journalist of the Year Award.

He has written and produced documentaries sustainable futures for UK independent television, and has broadcast on BBC and independent radio, and on the BBC World Service. He has travelled widely as an investigative journalist and photographer in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. He is a Visiting Judge for the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy; a Demos Associate, a Fellow of the RSA and a regular chair of RSA debates.
